Simulated, problem-solving, web-based adventures accessed from the classroom via. distance learning technology. Students and teachers are guided through "live" situations from Mission Control. Students work in teams to assess information, make calculations, and create graphs and charts to make recommendations to mission control. Simulations include "Operation Montserrat," "Moon, Mars, and Beyond!" "Space Station Alpha," "STORM-E," "Target Moon," "Satellite Rescue," "M.A.R.S. (Martian Aerial Reconnaissance Simulation)," and "F.S.I. (Fire Scene Investigation)." Each simulation includes links "Overview," "Teacher's Toolkit," "Student Materials," and "Mission Day." Provided by the Challenger Learning Center at Wheeling Jesuit University. This is an extraordinarily engaging resource for teachers and students as it simulates real-life problems in real time. Students are forced to make critical decisions in each scenario which affords them a venue for pure application of scientific processes.
